Greek Film Festival returns to Melbourne and Sydney

The 31st Greek Film Festival is scheduled to take place in Melbourne and Sydney from October 13 to October 25, 2026. The event features a diverse program of over 50 films, including premieres, award-winning productions, documentaries, and classic works of Greek cinema.

In Melbourne, the festival will be hosted across seven different cinemas. The event serves as a cultural bridge for the Greek diaspora in Australia, offering connection to Greek language, culture, and contemporary social issues while engaging the broader Australian public.

The festival will open on October 13 with the Australian premiere of the Greek comedy ‘Best Friends Forever’, written and directed by Konstantinos Mousoulis. The film follows a series of interconnected events centered on a wedding that begins to unravel, leading characters on an adventure in Crete involving family tensions and misunderstandings. The cast includes Thanasis Tsaltabasis, Agostis Arvanitis, Doretta Papadimitriou, Thanasis Aleira, Matina Nikolaou, Zisis Roumpos, and Australian actor of Greek descent Louis Mandilore.
