Greek Finance Ministry Reviews SME Tax Reforms in ‘Ten Commandments’

The president of the Piraeus Chamber of Commerce and Industry met with the deputy minister of finance and MP Demetris Markopoulos to discuss the Chamber’s “Δεκάλογος της Επιχειρηματικότητας” (Ten Commandments of Entrepreneurship). The ten‑point agenda proposes measures for micro‑small‑medium enterprises such as abolishing the trade‑license fee, lowering the corporate profit tax rate and advance income‑tax payments, introducing a two‑rate VAT system, and offering investment incentives linked to tax‑free reserves or accelerated depreciation. Additional proposals target the digital and green transition, energy‑cost mitigation, increased financing and liquidity, enhanced competitiveness, export growth, and streamlined customs, port and shipyard procedures. The deputy minister stressed the need for liquidity, consistent taxation and that the reforms would be financed by higher taxable turnover, not adding net fiscal cost, and urged swift government action ahead of the Prime Minister’s promises at the Economic Development Forum.
