Greek Firefighter Pilot Aristotelis Damiagos Killed in Psatha Helicopter Crash

Aristotelis Damiagos, a 39‑year‑old pilot and interpreter for the Greek fire service, died when two Bell firefighting helicopters collided over the Psatha area in western Greece. The accident occurred while the crew was battling forest fires, and Damiagos was praised for his dedication to protecting local communities.

A funeral service was held at the Ritsona mortuary, attended by more than 200 people, including President Konstantinos Tsatoulas, Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Minister Evaggelos Tournas, Fire Service chief Lieutenant General Theodoros Vayias, and other senior officials. Damiagos is survived by his wife, young daughter, mother and sister, who have announced plans to pursue legal action to determine responsibility for the crash.
