Greek fishermen suspend protests following meeting with Prime Minister
Greek fishermen have announced a temporary suspension of their protests as a gesture of goodwill toward the government. The decision follows an emergency meeting between Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and representatives of the fishing sector in Arnaia, Chalkidiki.
The fishermen stated they are pausing their mobilization to await upcoming government announcements and the Prime Minister's personal commitment to address their issues. However, they issued a warning that if government promises are not met, they will return to more dynamic and intense forms of struggle.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Mitsotakis acknowledged the economic pressures facing all sectors and emphasized that the fishing industry deserves additional state support to maintain competitiveness. He pledged to exhaust all possibilities to provide substantial financial assistance and promised more specific details within the coming days.
