Greek food industry expands into healthy snack market

The Greek food industry is experiencing significant growth in the healthy snack sector as consumers increasingly prioritize wellness. Research from McKinsey & Company indicates that 36% of Greek consumers are turning toward healthy dietary choices, a higher rate than the European Union average of 31%. This trend is particularly pronounced among Generation Z.

Market data from Circana shows that between January and May 2026, snack sales in supermarkets increased by 6.1% in value and 2.2% in volume. Demand is primarily focused on fresh products, high-protein options, and low-calorie items.

Major domestic companies are repositioning their portfolios to capitalize on this shift. 3alpha has expanded its brand through ‘3alpha Snacks’, which accounted for 6% of its branded sales in 2025. Agrino holds a leading position in the rice cake market with over 60% market share and is expanding into brown rice chips and legume-based snacks. Additionally, the investment fund Elikonos 3 has acquired a minority stake in ‘To Manna’ N. Tsatsaronakis, signaling increased institutional interest in the sector.
