Greek Football Federation postpones meeting on returning Greek referees to Super League derbies

The Hellenic Football Federation (EPO) abruptly postponed the scheduled meeting of its Professional Football Committee, originally set for late July, that was to decide on a proposal to reinstate Greek referees for Super League derby matches while using foreign VAR officials. The decision was taken late on Tuesday night without an official explanation, prompting speculation that clubs needed more time to assess the data.

President Makis Gagkatzis and KED president Stephane Lanoue had presented the plan, which had backing from the four clubs on the committee—Olympiacos, Panathinaikos, AEK and PAOK. Critics argue the sudden delay reduces transparency in the refereeing process and leaves the fate of Greek officials in derby games uncertain.
