Greek football sets AEK European squad and Super League referee decisions

AEK coach Maouros Kamaranezi is expected to announce the final European list for the club’s Conference League second‑qualifying round match against Beitar Jerusalem on July 23. The list currently includes recent sign‑ups such as Muftić, Van de Horn, Adoni, Piliás, Pankov, Répas and Lajuni, while players like Rubio and Hairo remain outside. The decision on whether to add Nicolás Anderégen, who has had limited preparation, is pending.

The Hellenic Football Federation (EPO) will meet on July 29 to decide whether Greek referees will officiate the upcoming Super League derby matches and whether foreign officials will continue to be used for VAR and AVAR. President Makis Gagkatzis supports the proposal to re‑introduce Greek referees while retaining foreign VAR referees for transparency and reliability. The outcome will determine the refereeing model for high‑profile league games in the new season.
