Greek football to adopt Goal Line Cameras for VAR

The Hellenic Football Federation’s Professional Football Committee has officially approved a proposal from the Super League to introduce Goal Line Cameras to Greek football stadiums. This technological upgrade is intended to support the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system by providing clearer images and additional viewing angles during critical goal-line incidents.

Unlike Goal Line Technology, which is an automated system that notifies referees if a ball has crossed the line, Goal Line Cameras do not make automatic decisions. Instead, they provide specialized footage from various angles to assist VAR officials in making more accurate manual determinations. The implementation is expected to begin during the quarter-final stage of the Greek Cup, with the goal of increasing transparency and ensuring fairness in matches.
