Greek fur breeders granted reduced agricultural diesel tax

Fur breeders in Western Macedonia, including the Kastoria and Kozani regions, will now be eligible for reduced Special Consumption Tax (SCT) on agricultural diesel. Following a Joint Ministerial Decision, these breeders are officially included in the livestock production categories entitled to the tax benefit.

Starting November 1, 2026, eligible professional farmers can purchase fuel with a direct discount at the pump via a digital application from the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE). This new system replaces the previous method where farmers paid the full price and sought tax refunds later. The discount is set at 0.41 euros per liter.

The decision follows coordinated efforts by local officials, including MPs Maria Antoniou and Michalis Papadopoulos, along with Western Macedonia Regional Governor Giorgos Amanatidis, in meetings with Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance Dimitris Markopoulos. The measure aims to reduce production costs and support the sustainability of the sector amidst international economic crises.
