Gamma Ethniki 2026-27 season begins with 113 teams

The 2026-27 Gamma Ethniki football season is set to commence on the weekend of September 26-27, featuring 113 teams divided into 10 groups. The competition serves as a critical link between amateur and professional football in Greece, with four teams earning promotion to Super League 2 and 23 teams facing relegation to local leagues.

The tournament follows a multi-phase structure involving initial group stages, play-offs for the top six teams in each group, and promotion play-offs. To bolster youth development, regulations require teams to include two specific young players in their starting lineups, born in 2007 and 2008 respectively.

Individual clubs, such as AE Lechimis, have announced squad renewals aimed at remaining competitive, while the Hellenic Football Federation's Organizing Committee President, Vasilis Sideris, emphasized the league's role as a developmental school for young talent.
