Greek pharma firms invest over €400 million in Tripoli industrial zone
The Greek government visited new pharmaceutical production sites in Tripoli on 25 June 2026. Companies DEMO ABEE, Win Medica (ELPEN Group) and FARAN are carrying out investments worth more than €400 million, creating over 1,500 high‑skill jobs. The projects aim to produce active pharmaceutical ingredients at industrial scale for the first time in Greece, strengthen research and innovation, and enable the country to cover more than 30 % of European demand for certain medicines. Officials highlighted the strategic impact on national drug self‑sufficiency, reduced reliance on imports and enhanced resilience of the health system against supply‑chain disruptions. The investments are presented as a catalyst for regional development and a model to attract specialised scientific talent back to Greece.
