Greek government spokesperson defends policies at Thessaloniki Exhibition

Government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis addressed recent political developments following Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis’s announcements at the International Thessaloniki Exhibition (DEPO). Marinakis defended the government’s stance on school textbooks, stating that the administration does not serve a ‘woke agenda’ and that any errors causing division will be reviewed by a committee.

Regarding political opponents, Marinakis commented on Antonis Samaras, noting that while he kept Greece in Europe, his historical record is established. He also addressed Alexis Tsipras, describing his political approach as a ‘fraud.’ Regarding the economic measures announced at the exhibition, Marinakis emphasized that the funds provided are a result of current policies and will be institutionalized and costed, distinguishing them from previous announcements.

In a separate commentary, the Prime Minister’s presence at the exhibition was characterized as an exercise in ‘embellishment,’ with critics suggesting his rhetoric seeks to avoid current realities and erase the impact of the past eight years of governance.
