Greek government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis attacks Samaras and Tsipras in latest political remarks

Government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis responded to former prime minister Antonis Samaras’s recent comments, emphasizing that justice, not personal agendas, provides answers on the Predator software investigation. He noted that the judiciary has already issued rulings and that he has no further comment.

Marinakis also criticized former prime minister Alexis Tsipras, calling him the last Metapolitefsi leader able to claim integrity, and condemned the 2019 criminal code that, in his view, eliminated heavy crime from the statutes. He rejected any “revenge” for the 2015 referendum, stating the government is focusing on concrete policies.

Regarding internal party dynamics, Marinakis warned that Samaras should not establish a new party, describing any such move as opposition to the current administration. He defended New Democracy’s poll performance, citing recent high approval percentages. He also dismissed Tsipras’s proposal to abolish nationwide exams as populist, while noting the government’s ongoing dialogue on school reforms.
