Greek government tightens property tax, rental reporting and fuel invoice rules

From 2027 Greece will calculate ENFIA property tax using the Electronic Building Identity, ensuring the tax base reflects the actual floor area of each building.

The Ministry of Finance also introduced strict penalties in the new Property Ownership and Management Registry (MIDAS): €500 for failing to declare a rental or gratuitous transfer within three months, €1,000 for submitting inaccurate information that leads to subsidies, and €100 for inaccurate but non‑subsidy‑linked filings.

In parallel, the Independent Authority for Public Revenue ordered that every wholesale fuel transaction must be invoiced from the first euro with the buyer’s VAT number, eliminating the practice of using anonymous fuel receipts to claim inflated business expenses.
