Greek Health Experts Advise Summer Skin Care for Children
Health professionals in Greece warn that the combination of high temperatures, humidity, strong sunlight and prolonged outdoor play in summer makes children's skin especially vulnerable. Common seasonal problems include heat rash (prickly heat), diaper rash, sunburn, fungal infections and reactions to insect bites.
Preventive measures recommended are cool bathing, wearing light, breathable clothing, ensuring good ventilation, frequent diaper changes and proper hygiene, applying mild topical corticosteroids when needed, using sunscreen with appropriate SPF, and employing approved insect repellents. Parents should seek prompt medical attention if children develop severe irritation, fever, breathing difficulties or signs of infection after insect bites or sun exposure.
