Greek Health Minister attends EU Health Ministers Council in Dublin

Greek Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis participated in the Informal Council of EU Health Ministers in Dublin. The meeting, which included EU Commissioner for Health Oliver Várhelyi, focused on three primary pillars: the role of healthy populations and life sciences in European competitiveness, the use of innovation and digitalization for preventive care, and the strengthening of health system resilience through EU cooperation.

Georgiadis highlighted several priorities for Greece, specifically the need for rapid and equitable patient access to new therapies through predictable regulatory frameworks and Health Technology Assessments (HTA). He also advocated for strengthening Europe’s productive base and diversifying supply chains to reduce strategic dependencies on critical medicines and active pharmaceutical ingredients. The discussions emphasized utilizing health data and innovation to support more integrated care models and bolster the strategic autonomy of the Union.
