Greek hospitals hold annual bone marrow donation campaign

Nursing services at the General Hospital of Pyrgos and the General Hospital of Naoussa have participated in the 5th annual nationwide bone marrow donation campaign. Organized in collaboration with the Nurses Association of Greece, the initiative aims to raise public awareness about the importance of bone marrow donation and to register new voluntary donors.

In Pyrgos, nursing staff acted as ‘ambassadors of life’ to encourage citizens, particularly those aged 17 to 45, to volunteer. The campaign focuses on providing hope to patients suffering from serious hematological malignancies and other blood-related diseases.

In Naoussa, the event included the screening of short films titled ‘White Blood’ and ‘90 Minutes’ to highlight the struggles of patients with blood disorders. The initiative serves to expand the national registry of voluntary donors through information sessions and the collection of biological samples.
