Greek industrial output index surges 14.1% in May 2026

ELSTAT reported that the General Index of Industrial Production in Greece rose 14.1% in May 2026 compared with the same month a year earlier, far outpacing the 2.3% increase recorded in the previous year. The rise was driven by a 26.3% jump in the external‑market index and a 7.7% rise in the domestic‑market index. Manufacturing contributed a 14.5% gain, while the mining and quarrying sector fell 15%.

Month‑on‑month, the overall index slipped 2.0% from April 2026. Over the twelve‑month period June 2025 – May 2026, the index was up 5.5% versus a 0.4% decline in the preceding twelve months.
