Greek insurance market production reaches €3.26 billion in H1 2026

The Greek insurance market experienced growth in the first half of 2026, with total premium production reaching €3.256 billion, a 12.1% increase compared to the same period in 2025. Data from the Association of Greek Insurance Companies (EAPE) indicates that life insurance was the primary driver of this upward trend.

Life insurance production amounted to €1.589 billion, representing a 20.1% increase over the first half of 2025. This sector accounts for nearly half of the total market production. Within life insurance, investment-linked products saw a 26.1% increase, reaching €706.1 million, while the management of collective pension funds grew by 9.1% to €168.6 million. EAPE noted that this significant growth is partly due to the particularly low production levels recorded in the first half of 2025.

Non-life insurance also showed positive results, with production reaching €1.667 billion, a 5.5% increase on an annual basis. The largest sub-sector in this category was motor third-party liability, which recorded €442.9 million in production, a 5.5% increase. Other notable growth areas included health insurance, which rose 4.8% to €294.5 million, and insurance against fire and natural elements.
