Greek Island Kea Expands Sustainable Tourism with New Infrastructure

Kea (also known as Tzia), a Cycladic island in Greece, is positioning itself as a sustainable tourism destination. The local government has invested in infrastructure projects, environmental protection, and the promotion of culture and gastronomy to boost the island’s appeal while preserving its authentic Cycladic character.

Mayor Irini Velissaropoulou said the island offers diverse experiences and continues to attract both Greek visitors and tourists from France, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy and other markets despite broader international challenges. The strategy focuses on modern facilities, preservation of archaeological sites, beaches, traditional villages, and activities such as sailing and diving, aiming for long‑term growth that benefits residents and visitors alike.
