Greek job market hits record positive balance in April 2026

In April 2026 Greece recorded a positive wage‑employment balance of 145,209 jobs, the strongest April performance since the ERGANI system began tracking data in 2001. The month saw 352,335 new job announcements and 207,126 departures – 91,273 voluntary quits and 115,853 contract terminations.

For the January‑April period, total hires reached 993,189 while separations were 793,076, leaving a net gain of 200,113 jobs. This marks the highest first‑quarter surplus recorded since 2001. The sectors with the most hiring activity were accommodation (90,046 jobs), catering (96,274 jobs) and retail (21,982 jobs).
