Greek journalist Christina Pitoura dies at 64

Christina Pitoura, a veteran Greek journalist, died on Thursday 6 August at the age of 64. The Board of the Greek Journalists' Association (ESIEA) announced her death and expressed condolences to her family, including her former husband, journalist Vasilis Chiotis, and their two children, Panagiotis and Marialena. Her funeral will be held in a private family ceremony.

Pitoura began her career in January 1984 with the newspaper Eleftheri Ora, later working for Demokratikos Logos and the daily Elefthero Typo. She spent many years coordinating free‑reporting and the network of correspondents, contributing to major investigative projects and earning a reputation for professionalism and integrity.
