Greek media and workers urged to adapt as AI transparency rules tighten
The European Union’s AI regulation, which takes effect on 2 August 2026, obliges media organisations to label synthetic or heavily modified content, including deepfakes. The Greek journalists’ union ESIEA has warned owners and editors that failure to comply will bring legal and financial penalties, and it calls for immediate adoption of ethical AI guidelines, staff training and human editorial oversight.
A BCG study of workers in the digital era found that 72 % say skill requirements have shifted and 88 % plan to upgrade their abilities. The research highlights that employees who anticipate business needs and act proactively are most likely to succeed as AI tools become more prevalent.
Bill Gates, commenting on AI’s impact on employment, identified biologists, programmers, energy‑sector workers and professional athletes as occupations that rely on creativity, intuition and complex problem‑solving that current AI cannot fully replicate.
