Greek Justice Minister George Floridis criticised over alleged accident tampering

Justice Minister George Floridis responded to criticism from the newspaper "Demokratia" after the paper highlighted his handling of a proposed amendment to court self‑governance. Floridis said the amendment, which would extend the term of elected court administrations from two to three years, has not yet been passed and is contained in a draft bill expected to be voted on on 31 July.

In a separate parliamentary appearance on 27 March, Floridis addressed accusations that officials tampered with the site of a 2023 accident in Tempi. Prosecutors allege that the location was altered, impeding investigations, and have proposed charges against several governmental and agency figures, including former Deputy Minister of Civil Protection Christos Triantopoulos and former Regional Governor of Thessaly Kostas Aggelastou. Floridis defended the actions of the authorities and rejected claims of wrongdoing.
