Greek Labour Minister Niki Keramios unveils worker housing, expands collective contracts

Minister of Labour and Social Security Niki Keramios inaugurated 40 new worker‑housing units in the KyraKali settlement near Grevena on 25 June. The project, part of an 80‑unit scheme stalled for more than two decades, will eventually provide homes for around 300 residents, many from vulnerable families. Keramios highlighted the swift completion after years of bureaucratic delay and praised the partnership with the contractor and the Public Property Management Agency.

The ministry also reported the first measurable outcomes of the National Social Agreement signed in November. New collective labor agreements have been concluded in sectors such as tourism, catering, confectionery, bakery and food technology, extending improved wages and working conditions to over 400,000 workers. The minister said the agreement is a functional tool delivering tangible benefits and noted its presentation in Brussels, where EU officials recognised Greece’s approach as a model for social dialogue.
