Greek Land Registry Reform Nears Full Completion by 2026

The Greek government says the national land registry will be fully completed by 2026. Deputy Prime Minister Kostis Chatzidakis highlighted that 99% of the country already has cadastral data online and that the remaining work will bring the system into productive operation.

Key achievements cited include raising land‑registration coverage from 28% in 2019 to 65% by the end of 2020, tripling the number of recorded rights to 7.4 million, and digitising 600 million pages of archival records with Recovery Fund financing. The reform also involves converting 392 old land‑registry offices into 79 modern centres, introducing a digital platform for applications and certificates, and establishing a regulatory sandbox for AI‑related innovations in the sector. Officials say the completed registry will improve property security, encourage investment and support broader economic development.
