Greek Language Summer Schools Begin in Ierapetra and Ithaca

The Cultural and Social Care Centre of the Holy Metropolis of Ierapetra & Sitia announced the start of the 8th Greek Language Summer School in Ierapetra. Classes run from 20 August to 4 September, offering 40 hours of instruction for adult learners with no Greek as a mother tongue. Small groups receive teaching from experienced professors and participants can also join cultural activities such as Cretan dances, hikes, crafts workshops and visits to archaeological sites.

From 16 to 19 October 2026, the island of Ithaca will host the 7th "Micro Summer" of the International Summer University on Greek Language, Culture and Media. The four‑day program brings together scholars from Greek and foreign universities to discuss linguistic change, AI, media, translation and related fields, and includes concerts, theatre and other cultural events.
