Greek Left Alliance establishes 75‑member Political Committee
The Greek Left Alliance (EL.AS), led by former prime minister Alexis Tsipras, has completed a key stage of its organisational build‑up by creating a 75‑member Political Committee. The committee, described as a broad collective body, will serve as the central guiding organ of the party, coordinating grassroots work, shaping the immediate political line and planning party actions.
Militos Chatzigiannakis has been appointed secretary of the committee. Its membership spans the political spectrum, including party sector heads, members of the National Council, participants from the Alexis Tsipras Institute, and active citizens. Notable representatives come from culture (actor Aimilios Cheilakis, director Mariana Toumatsa, writer Themis Moumoulidis, mayor‑candidate Haris Mavroudis), justice (former Supreme Court judge Maria Lepeniti, Deputy Christina Tsankli), ecology, business and academia, with a strong presence of women.
The formation follows the earlier establishment of a 400‑plus‑member National Council and precedes the party’s presentation of its programme at the upcoming International Exhibition of Thessaloniki, positioning EL.AS for the next electoral contest, whenever elections are called.
