Greek Left Coalition criticizes new public administration bill

The Greek Left Coalition (ELAS) has launched a sharp critique against the Ministry of Interior regarding a new bill concerning public administration. The party described the proposed legislation as a monument to institutional regression, party patronage, and favoritism rather than a genuine reform. Specific concerns were raised regarding the potential for arbitrary promotions, the creation of fragmented administrative structures, and changes to the scoring system for entrance exams that could allow for external interference.

Alexis Tsipras, leader of the Greek Left Coalition, also issued a strong condemnation of the Mitsotakis government, accusing it of corruption and mismanagement of public funds. Tsipras criticized the use of direct assignments and closed tenders, suggesting that ending such practices would create fiscal space to support society. He further questioned the allocation of Recovery Fund resources, specifically noting that funds intended for resilience were being diverted away from critical infrastructure needs, such as modernizing the power grid and acquiring firefighting aircraft.
