Greek Left Coalition launches documentary trilogy and expands membership
The Greek Left Coalition (ELAS), led by Alexis Tsipras, has launched a three-part documentary trilogy as a new political communication strategy. The series, titled ‘The Polarity of Politics’, ‘The Hope of Overthrow’, and ‘The Hour of Responsibility’, aims to reconnect the party with citizens' lived experiences through cinematic storytelling and personal narratives.
The first episode focuses on Tsipras’s personal history and his view that politics should serve as a tool to improve daily life. The second episode, ‘The Hope of Overthrow’, addresses the concerns of the younger generation, highlighting issues such as the cost of living, the state of the healthcare and education systems, and the feeling of being unheard by the current establishment.
In a related political development, former SYRIZA MP Symeon Kedikoglou has officially joined ELAS. He announced his membership via a social media video using imagery from Christopher Nolan’s ‘Odyssey’, framing his move as a journey toward a new political destination.
Additionally, ELAS is targeting the government on housing policy, criticizing the ‘Renovation of Housing’ program. The party claims there is a significant gap between the government's stated goals and the actual number of eligible properties being processed, labeling the discrepancy a ‘black hole’ of 14,000 homes.
