Greek libraries kick off 2026 Summer Reading and Creativity Campaign

The Network of Greek Libraries (ΔΕΒ) has launched the 2026 Summer Reading and Creativity Campaign, using the slogan “Books, open windows.” The programme runs from mid‑June to early September 2026 and offers a series of free workshops for children aged 5‑12 in public libraries across Greece.

At the Public Central Library of Veria, six daily workshops are scheduled for July 2‑10, covering topics such as the structure of books, poetry and emotions, creative classification of books, and autobiographical storytelling. Registration is online from 30 June.

The Public Central Library of Chalkida hosts three workshops on 22, 26 and 29 June, including “The book is only the beginning,” “My hero, I,” and “The book that I am,” aimed at fostering imagination, love of reading and self‑expression. Participants can register by phone.

The campaign is a joint effort of the National Library of Greece and the Hellenic Book and Culture Foundation, encouraging children to explore books in innovative ways and share their experiences on social media using #ΚΕ2026gr and #forEBEr.
