Thessaloniki arms trafficking: Two men arrested for supplying Turkish mafia

Greek authorities have re-arrested two men, a 36-year-old Turkish national and a 30-year-old Greek man, in connection with a heavy weaponry trafficking case linked to the Turkish mafia organization Dalton.

The suspects were initially detained in Thessaloniki on September 12, 2026, after police discovered a sniper rifle, an Uzi submachine gun, magazines, and ammunition being moved from a storage unit. Although they were initially released under restrictive conditions, a prosecutor's intervention led the Council of Appeals to order their pretrial detention.

Following new arrest warrants, the 36-year-old was located and arrested in Kavala during a coordinated operation. The 30-year-old subsequently surrendered to the Organized Crime Unit in Thessaloniki. The investigation continues to explore the connection between the weapons and organized criminal groups in Turkey.
