Greek tanker Skiros attacked in Black Sea after loading Russian oil

The Greek-managed Suezmax tanker Skiros was attacked in the Black Sea after loading Russian-origin crude oil at the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) terminal near Novorossiysk. The vessel, which has a capacity of approximately 1 million barrels, was reportedly struck multiple times by Ukrainian drones.

While the CPC terminal primarily transports Kazakh oil, reports indicate the specific cargo on the Skiros was of Russian origin. This incident follows a previous agreement where Ukraine stated it would not target CPC infrastructure or non-Russian vessels unless they were carrying Russian oil or were subject to Ukrainian sanctions.

The Athens-based management company for the vessel confirmed that there were no crew injuries or environmental pollution resulting from the attack. The exact extent of the damage to the ship remains unknown. The CPC has not yet commented on the incident.
