Greek man's pickup truck stuck on Jomtien Beach in Thailand
A 58-year-old Greek national became stranded on Jomtien Beach in Pattaya, Thailand, during the early hours of October 24, 2026. The driver, identified as Georgios, had driven a recently purchased second-hand Mitsubishi Triton onto the sand to test if the vehicle could tow a jet ski from the sea.
The two-wheel-drive pickup became stuck in the sand, and rising seawater nearly reached the vehicle's rear wheels. After initial attempts to free the truck by accelerating failed due to a lack of traction, Pattaya municipal officers summoned a private towing service. The recovery operation took over 30 minutes to successfully return the vehicle to dry land.
Local authorities are reviewing the incident, and the driver may face a fine for driving the vehicle onto the beach.
