Greek mayors issue messages for the start of the new school year

Greek municipal leaders in Apokoronas and Kalavryta have issued messages marking the start of the new school year, emphasizing local support for the educational community.

Charalampos Koukianakis, Mayor of Apokoronas, stated that the municipality is committed to addressing demographic challenges through practical actions. He highlighted ongoing efforts to upgrade school infrastructure, the establishment of a newborn allowance to support families, and the search for housing solutions for teachers.

Thanasis Papadopoulos, Mayor of Kalavryta and President of the Regional Union of Municipalities of Western Greece, noted that the municipality has ensured schools across all four municipal units are prepared in terms of cleanliness and equipment. He also mentioned the municipality's efforts to provide incentives for substitute teachers and its opposition to the merging of school classes.
