Greek Minister Chrysochoidis addresses criminal networks and political extremism
Greek Minister of Citizen Protection Michalis Chrysochoidis has addressed several high-profile criminal and political issues. Regarding the "Choriatiko" case, Chrysochoidis stated that law enforcement has been working to dismantle the criminal network for 1.5 years. He noted that authorities previously conducted operations, including a raid on a nightclub on Syngrou Avenue owned by the alleged ringleader, in an attempt to curb the group's activities prior to the arrest of Angelos Angelopoulos.
Addressing the issue of copper cable theft in Athens, the Minister emphasized that specialized police units are actively combating the phenomenon, noting the difficulty in tracking stolen materials sold to scrap yards.
On the political front, discussions have emerged regarding the potential candidacy of Ioannis Kasidiaris through a new political entity. Critics and legal observers have raised concerns about his eligibility to run for office, citing his previous conviction for involvement in the leadership of a criminal organization.
