Greek Minister Stavros Papastavrou approves €14 million water projects in Peloponnese

Minister of Environment and Energy Stavros Papastavrou signed a decision in Tripoli to incorporate six new drinking‑water and water‑management projects in five municipalities of the Peloponnese. The projects, funded at roughly €13.8 million, are part of the Ministry’s “Interventions for the provision of drinking water and water management” program, which now totals more than €66 million for 61 projects across 31 municipalities.

The new interventions will modernise water‑supply networks, replace ageing infrastructure, extend coverage to local communities and address water scarcity in the region. Papastavrou emphasized that “uninterrupted, affordable, safe access to water is an indisputable national priority” and highlighted the initiative as the second financing round, with a third round expected soon. The measures aim to improve public health, support agriculture and strengthen the local economy through reliable water resources.
