Greek Ministry releases 5,487 permanent teaching posts for 2025‑26

The Greek Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports has published a Joint Ministerial Decision in the Government Gazette (ΦΕΚ Β’ 4591/24‑07‑2026) outlining the allocation of 5,487 permanent teaching positions for the 2025‑26 school year. The posts cover primary and secondary education, special education, music schools and special educational support staff, as mandated by Law 4589/2019.

The distribution includes 2,403 positions for General Primary Education, 910 for General Secondary Education, 92 for Music School teachers, 309 for Primary Special Education, 1,303 for Secondary Special Education and 470 for members of Special Educational and Support Personnel. The most requested specialties are teachers of subjects such as Greek language, foreign languages, physical education, informatics and economics. The decision was signed by Education Minister Sofia Zacharaki and Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance Athanasios Petralias.
