Greek MP Olga Gerobasile warns Arta Hospital of critical staffing shortfalls

On 20 July 2026, Greek MP and Deputy Parliament President Olga Gerobasile visited Arta Hospital in Epirus. During the visit she held meetings with the newly elected workers' union representatives and the hospital administration, including director Nikos Biniaidis and medical services chief Konstantinos Kotsiouros.

Gerobasile highlighted severe shortages of doctors, nurses and support staff, describing the need for overtime as “super‑human” efforts by existing personnel. She criticised the New Democracy government's health policy for inadequate hiring, under‑funding and shifting costs to patients, and called for permanent, well‑paid staff, modern equipment and sufficient financing to ensure equitable access to quality care. The MP pledged to continue advocating for improvements to the public health system in Arta and the wider region.
