Greek MP seeks rent reimbursement for Second Chance Schools teachers

PASOK-Movement for Change MP Stavros Michailidis has submitted a formal request to the Greek Parliament to include teachers from Second Chance Schools (SDE) in a rent reimbursement measure.

Michailidis addressed the inquiry to Minister of Education, Religious Affairs, and Sports Sofia Zacharaki, forwarding a resolution from the OLME dated October 4, 2026. The resolution highlights that while SDE teachers are permanent primary or secondary education staff seconded to these public structures, they are currently excluded from the financial support measure.

The MP argues that these educators face the same housing needs and financial burdens as their colleagues, particularly in island regions, and suggests that their exclusion constitutes unfair treatment. He has called for an immediate reversal of this exclusion to ensure these teachers are included as beneficiaries.
