Greek municipalities advance local sports events and facility upgrades

The Municipality of Pavlou Melas has announced a swimming festival to be held at the Municipal Swimming Pool on Wednesday, September 2, 2026. The event, organized by the Sports Department, is designed for children aged 5 to 15 who have participated in swimming programs this year. The program includes various activities such as relay races, water games, and competitive swimming events for different age groups, concluding with the awarding of commemorative medals to all participants.

In Kalamata, Mayor Thanasis Vasilopoulos and municipal officials conducted an inspection of local sports facilities to monitor renovation progress. Work is nearing completion at the Beach Indoor Gymnasium, where a new taraflex floor is scheduled for installation to support the Kalamata '80 men's volleyball team in upcoming Volley League and Balkan Cup competitions. Additionally, updates were provided on the new Indoor Training Center and the Municipal Stadium, where improvements to locker rooms, lighting, and roofing are underway. Training for military academies and physical education students is expected to begin on September 7, subject to safety regulations.
