Greek municipalities commence road resurfacing and sewage works
The Heraklion municipality on Crete will carry out road resurfacing on Leoforos Dimokratias on 10‑11 June. The work involves two phases – removal of old asphalt followed by laying a new surface – and will close the road between Anthemiou and Pedios streets. Traffic will be diverted and police officers will direct vehicles while the section remains inaccessible.
Separately, the municipalities of Nea Makri, Mati and Marathon have published a schedule for sewage network upgrades from 6‑8 June. The program includes excavations, installation of 200 mm and 250 mm pipelines along several streets, placement of temporary supports at pump stations, and related construction activities. Residents are asked to follow diversion signs and accommodate the temporary disruptions.
Both projects are described as necessary improvements to road safety and water‑sewage infrastructure, with authorities requesting public patience while the works are completed.
