Greek music: Common misheard lyrics in popular songs

A report by SKAI’s ‘Studio sti 3’ highlights several iconic Greek songs that are widely misheard or sung with incorrect lyrics. Despite their popularity, many listeners have internalized versions of verses that differ from the original recordings.

Notable examples include Marinella, whose famous line is often heard as ‘Parto feggari kai kanto pera mou’ when the actual lyric is ‘kanto vera mou’. Similarly, Michalis Hatzigiannis’s song is frequently misquoted as ‘Tis Kyriakes tha eimai Zitas stis ekklisies’, whereas the correct lyric is ‘tha me zitas stis ekklisies’.

Other instances involve Giannis Poulopoulos, where the lyrics ‘kochi kai latreia, toichos kai filia’ are often misremembered, and Paschalis, whose song ‘Paradouso lipoprotein’ is sometimes misinterpreted as ‘pare fora moro mou’ instead of the actual ‘aneoron moro mou’.
