Greek New Democracy Spokesperson Sdoukou Announces New SME Support Measures

Alexandra Sdoukou, the press spokesperson for Greece’s ruling New Democracy party, told ERT News Radio that the forthcoming national budget will contain targeted aid for freelancers, micro‑small enterprises and small businesses. She said the exact composition of the budget package is not yet final and will depend on the available fiscal margin.

Sdoukou also highlighted UNESCO’s unanimous decision to designate Mount Olympus as a World Heritage site, describing it as “officially a monument of all humanity” and noting the recognition underscores Greece’s cultural and natural significance. She praised the ministries of Culture and Environment for securing the listing.

Regarding the economy, Sdoukou asserted that Greece is “performing well, delivering better results that will benefit citizens.” She acknowledged that inflation has fallen according to Eurostat data but remains relatively high, with energy prices identified as the main pressure on household costs. She recalled earlier tax cuts, reductions in tax pre‑payments and other measures, emphasizing that “small entrepreneurship is the backbone of the Greek economy.”
