Greek newspapers defend reporting amid government tension

The Greek newspapers Demokratia and Estia have responded to claims made during a radio broadcast on Real FM regarding the government's relationship with the press. During the broadcast, commentators suggested that the government's absence from the 150th-anniversary event of Estia was due to the critical stance taken by the newspapers, specifically citing Demokratia's reporting on Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and the referral of a case to the Special Court.

Demokratia issued a rebuttal, stating that its reporting is not a 'war' against the Prime Minister but rather a reflection of reality. The newspaper emphasized that its coverage, including the legal matters involving Mr. Triantopoulos, constitutes standard journalism and reporting. The publication noted that it welcomes criticism and does not criminalize it, contrasting its approach with the characterization of its work as a conflict.
