Greek official represents Parliament in Veria celebrations while Sintiki protests absence
During the October 28th national anniversary celebrations in Greece, contrasting levels of parliamentary representation were reported in different regions.
In Veria, Tasos Bartzokas, Member of Parliament for Imathia and Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Public Administration, Public Order, and Justice, represented the Hellenic Parliament. He participated in official ceremonies, including a wreath-laying at the 1940-1941 Fallen Heroes Monument and observing military and student parades.
Conversely, the Mayor of Sintiki, Giorgos Tatsios, has filed a formal protest with the President of the Hellenic Parliament regarding the lack of parliamentary or government representation in Sidirokastro. The Mayor expressed disappointment, stating that the absence of officials at the commemorations for the historic resistance sites of Rupel and Istimbei caused a sense of devaluation within the local community.
