Professor Panagiotis Lazaratos, who filed the appeal, warned that the decision has serious consequences beyond mere procedure. He stated that the annulment of ETHAAE decision 48136/2024 undermines the entire regulatory framework used to certify programs. Lazaratos also raised concerns regarding the legality of seven other already-licensed Non-State Higher Education Institutions (NPPEs) that relied on the now-invalidated criteria.

Opposition parties have reacted sharply to the ruling. PASOK characterized the situation as a fiasco of unprecedented dimensions, emphasizing the uncertainty facing hundreds of students who have already paid tuition. SYRIZA criticized the government for legislating with haste and sloppiness, calling for a new institutional framework that prioritizes the protection of enrolled students.
