Greek Opposition Leader Rena Dourou Says SYRIZA Remains Viable
Rena Dourou, president of the SYRIZA parliamentary group, told the newspaper Epochi that SYRIZA‑PS is not “hetero‑determined” and that its historic cycle has not closed. She argued the party continues the democratic traditions of the Greek people and is needed to turn the page from what she described as the corrupt governance of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
Dourou said the political clash remains a left‑right confrontation, citing recent government actions such as the commodification of water and culture. She highlighted the decisions of SYRIZA’s recent congress and central committee as a unified, clear stance. The party aims to become a progressive alternative, working intensively on a new left‑wing front and noting a positive response from the Ecologist Greens, whose environmental agenda aligns with SYRIZA’s positions.
