Saint Olympius and Saint Salome honored on August 3
On Monday, 3 August 2026 the Orthodox Church marks the feast of several saints. The martyr Saint Olympius, a Byzantine figure who suffered death under the Persian king for his Christian faith, is commemorated alongside Saint Salome, a Myrrh‑bearer and first cousin of the Virgin Mary known for her devotion during Christ’s passion. The liturgical calendar also honors Saint Dalmatios, a former soldier who became a monk and was praised by the Third Ecumenical Council in 431 AD, his son Saint Faustus who succeeded him, and Saint Isaiah, remembered for his stand against the heretical emperor Oly (Uli). These commemorations are observed in Greece and Cyprus, where the daily eortologio lists the names Olympios, Salome and Saloma for the day.
