Greek Orthodox Church begins new catechetical year
The Greek Orthodox Church is commencing a new ecclesiastical and catechetical year. In Pyrgos, the catechetical schools will hold a celebratory event and blessing on Sunday, September 27, at the Apostolic Diakonia Hall.
Church leaders emphasize that these schools serve as more than just centers for religious instruction; they are intended to be spiritual communities and places of connection for children and youth. The initiative aims to provide spiritual guidance and a sense of community to help young people navigate the isolation and digital distractions of modern life.
Additionally, the liturgical cycle marks the beginning of a new series of Holy Gospels, specifically starting with the Gospel of Luke. This period also includes reflections on the Holy Cross, which is honored throughout the month of September.
